Xiaomi is scheduled to launch its latest flagship smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 8 along with MIUI 10 and Mi Band 3 tomorrow at an event in China. Ahead of the official launch, we have got the live images of Mi 8 and Mi Band 3.
Xiaomi Mi 8 price and availability
The handset comes in three variants based on different RAM and inbuilt storage versions. The 6GB RAM+64GB model costs CNY 2699 (roughly Rs 28,500) while the 6GB+128GB model costs CNY 2999 (roughly Rs 31,600). The third variant sports 6GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 3299 (roughly Rs 34,800). It is not for sure if or when the smartphone will hit the Indian shores.
Xiaomi Mi 8 specifications
Diving right into the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 8 sports a 6.21-inch full-screen AMOLED display from Samsung with FHD+ (2248×1080 pixels) resolution and 88.5% screen-to-body ratio. It has 18.7:9 aspect ratio and brightness of up to 600nits, claims Xiaomi. There is no physical button at the front.
Xiaomi launches Artificial Intelligence-enabled MIUI 10
The Xiaomi Mi 8, unlike what’s seen in Android smartphones these days, has a long notch similar to what is found in the iPhone X. It includes the front-facing camera, proximity sensor, earpiece, infrared lighting and infrared lens.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the smartphone runs on MIUI 10 that claims to make the device snappy and boasts a bunch of AI-based features.
It boasts of a dual rear camera setup that includes 12MP sensors on each of them, powered by AI. Some of the camera features mentioned is 1.4um pixel size for better low-light photography, dual-pixel autofocus, AI portraits, scene detection and video editing.
At the front, you get a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.8um effective pixel size, and a few selfie-based AI features.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 also has something called as dual frequency GPS to that is said to eliminate interference from buildings and reduces signal delays. It is backed by a 3400mAh battery and supports all the basic connectivity features including Bluetooth v5.0, 4G VoLTE support and more.
The live image of the Mi Band 3 has also surfaced revealing a large screen, shiny body, and it is possible that it might retain the button below the screen.
